Tara's Tale!

This is a great walk ideal for dogs because there are no roads and the land is mainly used for agricultural purposes so no livestock to chase. However, you may be lucky and see some rabbits and pheasants.  This trail is mainly along bridleways and a few footpaths

Start Point

From the A419 take the B4019 towards Highworth. At Swanborough turn left by the Freke Arms Public House sign posted to Hannington, about 1/4 mile on look out for the bridleway sign on the left next a wooden gate (see map)

Directions

Walk down the bridleway "Staplers Lane"

Turn right where the bridleways cross- sign posted to Hannington

Continue straight ahead to next bridleway sign and turn left sign posted to Hannington, n.b. Hannington Village is straight on but don't continue down this path

Continue straight ahead and through the old iron gate, shortly afterwards go through the metal kissing gate on the left hand side of the track between a tree & large bush

Cross the field and through the metal kissing gate on the other side, enjoy the view perhaps stop here for a picnic before descending down the steep steps to the bottom

At the bottom of the steps continue straight ahead keeping the tree line on your right hand side (it should be sign posted)

Walk through the newly planted trees at the bottom of the field and cross the small wooden footbridge taking you through the hedge line then turn right on the other side

Keeping the hedge/tree line on your right hand side walk around the field turning left after about 50 yards. Continue straight ahead to the bottom right corner of the field. Cross the small footbridge, through the bushes/trees and turn left along the bridleway known as "Lawn Lane"

Continue walking along the bridleway until it splits at the end of the track and turn left here sign posted to Hannington

At the top of the hill where the bridleways split take the right hand fork back to the start of the walk
