Directions
1. Leave the car park and turn right
walking past the garage, cross
over Devizes Road at the end, turn left
down Croft Road passing the Royal Oak
on the other side of the road. Turn
right and walk along Springfield Road and
the entrance to the Old Town Rail
Path is situated on the opposite
side of the road on the corner of
Bowling
Green Lane.
2. Walk down the steps then turn
left and walk along the rail path
for quite some way until you reach
bridge above the canal.
Along the way pause at the viewing
points to admire the view over the
countryside
3. 20 yards past the bridge
over canal take the footpath on
the
left side which leads down the slope to the
canal. Turn right at the Canal.
4. Walk along the canal and then
under the new bridge.
Watch out for the fishermen on
the opposite bank along this section
as they won't be too pleased if
your dog decides to go for a swim!
5. At the end of the canal cross
over the stile then turn left and
follow
footpath across the field.
6. Once across the field take path
up the slope. There is a road at
the top so put leads on dogs. Turn left and
walk along road for 130 yards to
the stile on the right hand side.
7. Cross
over stile and take footpath across the
field. The footpath should run diagonally across
the field to the top left corner but it
may be overgrown and not clear.
If this is the case turn left and
head towards the farm buildings
then bear right just in front of them
and pick up track that takes you
to the corner of field.
8. Cross the stile and continue
straight
ahead towards the house keeping
the hedge line on your right.
9. Leave field by crossing stile
in the corner. Turn right
and walk along and up "Mill Lane".
Continue up the hill and under
the bridge
10. After the bridge take the small footpath on your right
which runs along the side
of the fence and doubles
back to the bridge and the rail
path. At the rail path turn left and
follow it back to where you joined
it at the start.
