Tara's Tale!

If you want a bit of roam and somewhere safe to run off the lead this is a firm favourite with the local hounds, so you bound to see other four legged friends to have some fun with. There is a small lake with ducks to chase and somewhere for a splash on a hot summers day but don't upset the fishermen! An overall nice short walk

Start Point

The start point is opposite the Tawny Owl Pub at Taw Hill off the new Northern Orbital Road (Thamesdown Drive). Look out for the double green gates with the red and yellow targets on them
(see map)

Directions

1. Walk through the green gates at the entrance to 'Moulden Hill' and immediately turn left and walk along the footpath.

2. After approx 100 yards turn right into the field and follow the worn footpath across the field towards the top right corner.

3. Walk through the gap in the hedgerow and up the hill through the young trees

4. At the top of the hill turn right and along the path through more trees.

5. When you come into the field turn left and walk down the hill. Turn right in the corner and follow the canal on your left hand side.

6. Walk through the gap in the hedgerow and down the hill and bear right at the river and follow the path past the brick bridge and along the river.

7. Cross through the gap in the hedge line leading to the Moulden Lake and bear left along the path.

8. At the end of the gravel path turn left and go over the wooden bridge and along the gravel path on the other side.

9. Turn right when you see a wooden footpath post and head towards the wooden gate.

10. Go through the wooden gate and continue a straight ahead for a few yards and then turn left at the footpath sign.

11. Continue straight ahead along the wide grassy path.

12. At the next field turn right and walk straight ahead keeping the tree line on your right. The path may not be clear at first but soon turns into a wider grassy path.

Continue around the edge of this field turning twice to do a U turn, you may find Deer here occasionally

13. Cross through into the field ahead by crossing over the ditch and through the gap in the trees dividing the fields. Continue straight ahead

14. Turn left in the corner, don't go through the kissing gate here.

15. Go through the wooden kissing gate in the next corner and turn left and along the gravel path, over the bridge and back to the lake.

16. Walk around the other side of the lake and back through the gap in the hedge turning left into the field.

17. Continue straight ahead with the hedge line on your left to the corner of the field.

18. Go through the gap in the hedge, turn right and walk along the tarmac path back to the car. Leads back on here, busy road!
