Enjoy a circular walk through medieval ridge and furrow hay meadows. The trail takes you along the edge of the river ray. This is a very peaceful and relaxing walk with lovely views across the countryside. This is a conservation walk where access has been provided under the DEFRA farm conservation scheme.

Start Point

Through the gate opposite Hayes Knoll Farm
(see map)

Directions

1. Enter the meadow through the gate opposite Hayes Knoll Farm.

Walk straight down the field to the railway line

2. Go through the metal gate and across the railway line and through the left hand gate on the other side and turn left and head towards the Station along the edge of the field

3. Go over the style across the footbridge into the next meadow and continue along the edge of the field towards the signal box and continue around the edge of the field until you reach the first gate.

4. Go through the double gates then turn left and through the gap in the hedgerow turning right in the long narrow meadow.

5. Go through the gate at the end of the meadow and across the bridge, then turn left and follow the fence around the field passing a small woodland and then through the un-gated fence into the next field.

7.Then continue along the edge of the River Ray until you reach the fence where you turn right and follow the hedgerow on your left back to the railway line

8. Cross the railway line and retrace your steps back to the start of the walk
