Directions
1. From the road head down the
track down the side off the big
stone building to the kissing gate
on the left just past the stone
wall. It is quite likely that this
and the next field will contain
sheep. They can be avoided by following
the 'Alternative Start' detailed
below.
2. Go through the kissing gate
and walk down the field keeping
to the right edge to the to bottom.
3. Go through the kissing gate
and continue ahead through the centre
of this field to the bottom. (This
may also contain sheep).
4. Cross over the wooden footbridge
and through the gate into the field
(crops) and head across the field
bearing left towards the barn and
the metal kissing gate
5. Cross the footbridge and through
the kissing gate and head along the
concrete track (Bridle way) which
then turns into a grass track between
the fields.
6. At the end of the grass track
go through the gate and bear right
following the Bridle way sign to
Hannington Wick crossing through
the gap in the hedge onto the ash
path
7. Turn right on the track in
the direction of Highworth (sign
posted)
8. When you reach the bridge
over the stream, bear right and
take the footpath through the trees
keeping the stream on your left.
9. After a short way when the
path splits take the right hand
Bridle way and stay on this track
between trees for quite some distance
to the next sign post. (warning
this track will get very muddy in
winter months and uneven in summer)
10. Turn left at the next sign
post towards Hannington and up the
hill. Look out for rabbits
and the maybe pause for a rest at
the bench half way up and admire
the views.
Turn right at the top and follow
the track back to the start.
Alternative Start
2b. Continue past the kissing
gate along the track passing the
tennis courts, then turn right and
walk down the hill.
At the bottom of Parson's Lane
turn left at the Bridle way sign
post in the direction of Hannington
Wick.
After a short way pass through
the wooden gate and then turn immediately
right and go through the wooden
gate and along the grass track Bridle
way (sign posted).
At the end of the Bridle way
turn left to
reach the concrete track as detailed
in step 5 above, now follow the
main instruction
