Tara's Tale!

This trail is regularly walked by Tara's Border Collie friend Millie. It is a local route which follows a brook along a quiet lane past the pretty church of St. Mary's before taking you through the 'Moredon Tree Collection' and around 'Plaum's Pit' a popular fishing spot.  It's a great walk in the centre of town where you can meet other doggy pals

Start Point

Cricklade Road in Gorse Hill. As you head away from the shops and after passing the Duke of Edinburgh Pub on your left there is a gap in the houses on the left just before the chip shop.
(see map)

Directions

1. Walk along the cycle path

2. Once you get to Pinehurst Road, Cross over and either follow the cycle path on the right of the brook or cross to the left which takes you out of the path of cyclists and pedestrians.

Follow the brook, and cross the second footbridge just before you get to the road.

3. Cross Northern Road and continue to follow the brook and head towards the church of St. Mary's.

4. Cross Vicarage Road and descend the steps in to a cul-de-sac and follow the lane and cross the footbridge into the trees of Rodbourne Green

Follow the trail through the woods and onto open grassland.

5. Follow the brook until you reach the road at the entrance to the trading estate. Put dogs on a lead as you approach the busy road.

6. Turn left and walk along the path for 100 yards and then left again by the gate and walk through the trees along the gravel path and enjoy the Moredon Tree collection as you go.

7. At the end of the main path and turn right and continue to 'Plaum's Pit' a favourite haunt for local fishermen.

The path runs a full circle around the water and brings you back to where you began.

8. Follow the path back to the main path in step 7 then turn right and follow the trail down towards the brook and head left over the footbridge and from this point retrace your steps in the opposite direction.
