Directions
1. Facing in the direction of Lambourn turn
right and walk along the Rideway (in
the opposite direction to the circular
walk)
2. A short way along the Ridge Way
turn left at the signpost where the
footpaths cross the Ridge Way and follow
the straight footpath all the way to

3. Just before the wood turn left
and look for the path that runs between
a line of trees at the edge of the field
and the wood, you do not go into the
wood it's self which is enclosed by
a stone wall. Unfortunately there are
no footpath signs here. In May you
can enjoy the Bluebells that spread
through the trees
As you leave the edge of the wood
put dogs back on the lead as you will
soon be approaching a road
4. Cross the road and follow the
foot path sign posted to the Ridge Way
1 mile, walk along the wide track with
the trees to your right
5. At the top on the hill turn left
where the tracks cross taking the wider
track down the hill and past the the
metal barn back to the Ridge Way
6. At the Ridge Way turn right to
visit the Wayland's
Smithy monument which is about
5 minutes up the track on left
7. After visting Wayland's Smithy
turn right coming out of the gate and
stay on the Ridge Way which will take
you back to the car park
